Why and How

I have to admit, I also have stretch marks. Most of us, girls, do. It is just a simple but annoying fact of life. We get stretch marks. I got mine even before I got pregnant with my precious baby boy. Some people get them for no apparent reason. Some get them when they hit puberty. The reasons are as diverse as we, girls, are.

I’m yet to come across a girl who has stretch marks that she’s perfectly ok with. We all want to get rid of them. We all want them to, poof, disappear. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to get rid of them completely, unless you go under surgery. There is, however, a way to minimize their appearance and make them become almost invisible.

My Stretch Mark Story

In my case, it was because I gained too much weight. I was going through a stressful period in my life and my job was draining all my energy out of me. I ate too much. Well, regardless of the reasons, I ended up with the famous stretch marks that up until that point I never imagined I would ever have to deal with.

My dear friend and mentor told me that alas, there was nothing that we could do to make them disappear, but there were products up her sleeve that we created to treat and make their appearance less of a nuisance to me.

Here are the products that she recommended to me and the order in which to apply them. She also told me to do this everyday twice a day. After about eight to ten weeks, she said that their red appearance would dim in color and their large scar like texture would shrink to become more like little cut lines. She said then after that eventually it would make the pink color go away and I would end up with little lines that were not so visible after all.

To my great relief, what she has said has come true. I vigorously used these products day in and day out until one day I noticed that they really did lose their awfully bright red/purple coloration and shrank in size. Now I have the memory of what they used to be like. Luckily for me, they are really just little lines that go across various parts of my body without really being that visible anymore. (Also, the more weight I lose, the smaller they become.)

Products and Order of Application

Below I will show the products I use for my stretch marks and the order in which my beauty adviser told me to apply them. She also told me to do this twice a day every day for at least 8 weeks in order to see serious and significant results. I followed her orders exactly and I have to admit it really did help. I hope it helps you as much as it did me. It should since these are exactly the right products to use to help treat stretch marks.

Step 1 - Oxygenating Body Scrub

According to the instructions from my beauty adviser who is a licensed cosmetologist with over 50 years of hands on practice, I used this Oxygenating Body Scrub twice a day, morning and evening in the showers, applying it only to the affected areas.

What that does is hydrates the skin (as the name suggests, oxygenating) and prepares it to be more accepting of treatment.

In the showers, morning and evening, apply just a tiny drop of this scrub onto the affected areas. Rub it on there firmly but gently for about 1 – 3 minutes and rinse.

Pat dry when you get out of the shower.

Step 2 - Stretch Mark Cream

The second step you do morning and evening after the Oxygenating Body Scrub in the shower is use this Stretch Mark Cream. Make sure you pat dry your skin when you get out of the shower and not rub the towel all over yourself. This helps your skin to retain moisture more while also preventing your skin from being irritated by the towel rubbing on you.

TIP: Make sure you pat dry your skin when you get out of the shower. Do not rub your towel over your skin. Pat drying helps your skin to retain moisture and not become irritated from the towel rubbing on your skin.

Follow Up Care

Once you see significant improvements, do not stop using these creams. I still use them about once a week just to maintain my stretch marks treatment routine. Even if you do these steps once a month once you take your stretch marks under control, it still will be better than not to do anything about them because, in the end, they need maintaining just like your face or other parts of your body do.

TIP: Continue to use these products at least once a month once you get your stretch marks under control. This will ensure that you maintain the upper hand and not the pesky stretch marks.

    1. Hi Pati,
Thank you for your message. I really appreciate it. Yes, I’ve also accepted the fact that I have them. But now they are like thin white lines that are really hard to see. They used to be blood red and purple and crawled all over those affected areas. I do believe confidence is important. But from personal experience, these products and the dedicated, consistent care routine really made a difference for me. I hope to hear from you again! Please check out my other blog https://www.cookingwithbuttpowder where I focus on motherhood lifestyle and all things baby and mom. I am a first time mom myself. I am still working on building content on both of these blogs, but there will be more to come! Please subscribe, share, and like if you enjoy reading my posts. It really helps me to keep going.

    1. Hello Armelle,

I am glad to hear from you. I personally never thought I would ever be able to make them look better. They were really red and purple and large like spider webs. These products really did help me. I also believe that sticking with it and not skipping makes a big difference. Also, I do not know your specific situation, but sometimes looking any extra weight helps, too, as an addition to these creams. For me personally, I keep gaining and losing weight, but the stretch marks seem to be under control. They do shrink even more when there is less body fat percentage. Let me know how it works for you. I can also inquire from my cosmetologist some personalized advice if you send me a few pictures and a little more info. For example, how old the stretch marks there. I cannot guarantee that she will accept the virtual assistant job – because she stands by her products and words 100% and giving virtual advice just by looking at a picture is hard. But we can ask her, still. I do know that this is the care system that she recommends in general situations when it comes to stretch marks. I hope to hear from you soon! Don’t give up!

  2. I don’t actually have any stretch marks at the moment (I don’t have kids yet), but I’m going to send this article over to my friend who is expecting her first child, as I’m sure she’ll find it useful 🙂 x

    1. Hi Becca,

Sounds great! Thank you, I only post things that have really helped me personally. I think your friend will benefit greatly if she uses these products. Your friend might also find my other blog interesting. It is a motherhood lifestyle blog where I discuss all things related to motherhood. As a first time mom myself, I share a lot of what has worked for me over at that blog. It is new, and I am still working on building my content there. More will come soon. Check it out here:

    1. Hi Jenne,
Thank you for your input! I am very glad to hear from you. I think it also means that your skin naturally has a great level of elasticity to begin with. Nothing could be better! If you are also a mom like me, you might find my other blog interesting, too: I focus on motherhood lifestyle over at that blog. Please subscribe/share/and like if you enjoy my content.

    1. Hello, Matthew!
I am really glad to hear from you! I personally have had great success with my stretch marks using these products and following the routine my skin care provided for me. If you would like, you could send me a picture or two of your wife’s stretch marks and I can see if I would be able to get a personalized reply from my skin care provider for you. It is not a guarantee as she might not wish to give an advise without seeing your wife in person. She doesn’t make any comments that she won’t stand behind 100%. But I can ask her. No way to know unless we ask. Also, the stretch marks grow if there is additional weight put on. The results will be greatly improved if, let’s say, there is some weight to be lost. However, that is not always the case. Sometimes, it just comes down to the skin’s level of elasticity. Let me know your thoughts and I can see if perhaps my cosmetologist will be able to make a specific care routine for your wife. Please follow and subscribe if you enjoy my blog. This helps me to know that you guys are interested and tells me to continue my blogs.

    1. Hi Shannon,
I’m glad to hear from you! These products really work. I have to say that there is nothing that will make them ‘go away’ to the point that your skin looks like you never had them, but with these products I have greatly minimized their visibility and they basically are really hard to notice now. They are more like fine lines that don’t catch the eye at all. I recommend that you give these a try. Let me know how it works for you! Please be sure to ask me any more follow up questions and I will see if I can ask my skin care provider to offer you a personalized treatment plan. Please subscribe to my mailing list and follow me on Pinterest/Facebook/YouTube. It really helps me to know you, guys are interested in me posting things and keeps me going.
